The Bioinformatics team has a vision to further the understanding of biological systems in terms of their underlying physical and chemical processes, using High Performance Computing and Internet & Communication Technologies. It has a mission to build a center of excellence that can provide solutions and services to address problems in biology which demand the usage of High Performance Computing systems
Activities of Bioinformatics group @C-DAC are aimed towards acquiring in-depth knowledge and understanding the various strata of bio-complexity and hence include an entire spectrum of data analyses and essential research consumables. Various in-house research activities are being carried out which include genome sequence assembly, microarray data analysis, structure-based drug discovery, protein folding and various molecular dynamics simulation using advanced MD techniques.

BBSRC Project 5th Meet
Fifth meeting of the BBSRC Collaborative Project on systems biology approach to the annotation of Mycobacterium and Salmonella genomes" held during September 11-23, 2011 at Edinburgh, UK where scientists from C-DAC and IAH discussed their research work

Anvaya Workshop
Successfully conducted the workshop on indigenously built bioinformatics software, Anvaya at IASRI, New Delhi , June 22-24, 2011.

During "Acccelerating Biology" Symposium (Dec 2010), organized by Bioinformatics team at C-DAC, Anvaya software was released. Anvaya, which literally means ‘logical connection’ in Sanskrit, is a platform for creation of user-defined workflows in the area of biological sequence analysis. This workflow tool will save the efforts of visiting numerous webservers for completing complex computational genome analysis and would bring to the desktop the numerous tools that a genomics researcher would use.
